Steve Maleh on How Social Media Can Benefit Your Business

In this day and age, if your business isn’t using social media to market itself and connect with consumers, then your business is falling behind. According to Oberlo, there were 3.2 billion social media users in 2019, and that number will only grow as more communities get access to smartphones and computers. Most social media sites are free to use as well, but if you’re not convinced yet that social media is the way to go, here are more ways it can benefit your business.

Two Way Communication

Traditional media and advertising is a one-way street. You tell the consumer what you have to offer them, and you rarely see their response. With social media, however, you provide a way for consumers to interact with you directly, and you are provided with a way to reach them directly. This benefits both parties, providing a fast and convenient way to review products or talk to customer service representatives and provide the other with valuable consumer data.

Great ROI

As we mentioned earlier, social media costs nothing to lose, and spending as little as 6 hours a week on your business’s social media can drastically improve your conversion rates. Every post you make on social media is another chance to draw consumers to your company website, and it also humanizes your brand. Having a social media presence makes you seem more like a person than a company, and consumers prefer to do business with people. With so many benefits at very little time and money cost to you, you really can’t afford not to be on social media.

Improved SEO

SEO stands for search engine optimization and means how high you rank on related Google search results. You want to rank as high as possible, and social media can help with that. Though each like and comment doesn’t directly translate into more “points” for the ranking, the more traffic you attract to your social media pages and website does improve your SEO. So making sure you are posting regularly with valuable content can significantly improve your SEO.

For example, if your business sells kitchen appliances, you want your business to be as close as possible to the top of page one when people search for “kitchen appliances.” If they see how high you rank, how easy you are to communicate with, and what content you produce, they are more likely to buy from you. Social media helps with all of these things.
