For 15 years, Dikla Akrat worked at Isrotel Hotel Chain in Tel Aviv where she experienced a wide variety of managerial positions. For several years she thoroughly enjoyed her role as a reservation manager before stepping into her customer service. Leadership quickly saw her talent and Dikla was moved up again, this time to the Marketing and Sales Director role. It was that role in marketing where she finally felt that her spirit was embodied.
Dikla went on to become the marketing director for an educational entertainment company, EPIC. The organization used interactive, high-energy productions to educate students and church and school functions. Dikla continued to expand her network and learned all of the ins and outs of not only running the marketing department but video production as well.
For more than 25 years, Dikla Akrat has faced every challenge head-on and triumphed. Her roles have included a director of compliance, a call center executive, and a marketing director. Additionally, she has made an impressive name for herself as a massively successful self-employed consultant.
In the business world, Dikla is known as a fixer. It doesn’t matter what the industry is, if there is a problem, Dikla Akrat is the person to call. Our Interview with Dikla Akrat
Question: What’s the most important thing we should know about you?
Dikla Akrat: It depends on who’s asking. A Boss should know I will treat a business as if it was my own. If they hire me, it means they need help, and they will have to hear the good, bad and ugly of what needs to be done. A friend should know I will always do my best to help and support in any situation.
Question: Name the most impactful lesson you learned from failure.
Dikla Akrat: I learned that failure is not a bad thing. This is where I develop myself. At that point of failure, I am growing and becoming stronger than before.
Question: What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Dikla Akrat: I became a widow at the very young age of 28. I left with three baby boys to raise all by myself. It was hard and still is 24 years later, and we still miss him. But we’re doing alright, and I’m a very proud mom.
Question: What did you waste the most time on when you were first starting your career?
Dikla Akrat: I don’t think I have wasted any time at all. Everything I have been through since I started my career, all the small and big things, has led me to where I am today.
Question: Name a tool you use for work that you can’t live without:
Dikla Akrat: Internet connection and my laptop.
Question: What is your favorite hobby and why?
Dikla Akrat: My favourite hobby is long-distance swimming. I can swim for more than an hour in one go, and I find it meditating and relaxing.
Question: Name one small habit that positively impacts your productivity.
Dikla Akrat: Waking up without immediately reaching for my phone if I can help it. Other than that, probably walking. A good walk helps to clear my mind, it’s almost a reset.
Question: What tips do you have for getting a seat at the table?
Dikla Akrat: Show initiatives. If you have a challenge, try to think of a solution, be positive, optimistic, a team player, and the most important thing is to be honest, no matter how hard the truth is.
Question: Do you value intelligence or common sense more? Why?
Dikla Akrat: I appreciate intelligent people, but I value more common sense. Common sense primarily describes a person’s practicality, while intelligence primarily refers to a person’s intellectual capacity. In the business world, we need people with common sense and emotional intelligence rather than just intelligent people.
Question: What would you consider to be the perfect day?
Dikla Akrat: The perfect day would be spending the whole day at the beach with my beloved ones, doing water-sport activities, and having food, drinks and music. Such a cliché! A perfect day would be helping others in need. This will make me very happy at the end of the day.
