Born in Rwanda, Nikolas Perrault has spent decades traveling the world. At the beginning of his career, Nikolas gained extensive experience as an investment executive with some of Canada’s largest institutions, including National Bank, Merrill-Lynch, and Scotia Capital.
As a graduate of Concordia University with a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance, Nikolas went on to receive his Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1997. With vast and incredible experience in securities trading, human resources management, and financial analysis, his career has taken him down a very successful path.
Nikolas Perrault is also currently acting as Special Advisor Capital Market to QuantGate Systems. This outstanding fintech company is working towards making trading a safer experience for everyone through their diversified team of leaders and innovators as well as being on the advisory board for Petro Viking Energy Inc, a Canadian private reporting issuer poised to become a 21st Century Integrated Energy Company that works on energy projects in Canada and internationally.

Question: What’s the most important thing we should know about you?
Nikolas Perrault: I treasure loyalty. I love to travel, adventure and challenges. The world has so much to offer and everyone should take the chance to explore it.
Question: Name the most impactful lesson you learned from failure.
Nikolas Perrault: You never do enough due diligence. It’s important, in any business and in life, to always do your due diligence or else you are setting yourself up for failure.
Question: What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Nikolas Perrault: My Family. Family is incredibly important and I treasure them every day. I am very lucky to have them by my side.
Question: What did you waste the most time on when you were first starting your career?
Nikolas Perrault: Poor Technology. Technology gave either help you excel or hold your back. This is something that I wish I knew at the start of my career.
Question: Name a tool you use for work that you can’t live without.
Nikolas Perrault: My Blackberry. Without this piece of technology, I would be lost. When I have it by my side, I know I’ll be at the top of my game.
Question: What is your favorite hobby and why?
Nikolas Perrault: Reading because it offers endless dimensions from which one can grow.
Question: What excited you the most about your industry right now?
Nikolas Perrault: Never a dull moment in the technology, and natural resources industries. Endless opportunities.
Question: What concerns you most about your industry right now?
Nikolas Perrault: Probably the same as for many people. We have entered a totally uncharted global socio-economic picture. The pandemic has caused severe trauma to an already fragile international geopolitical and economic balance. With tensions high, I am afraid that chaos has a chance of erupting in several regions of the world simultaneously. Policymakers in many countries will be unable to cope.
Question: What’s the greatest risk you’ve ever taken?
Nikolas Perrault: Buying large option positions with only hours till expiry.
Question: Name one small habit that positively impacts your productivity.
Nikolas Perrault: Keeping a manual daily diary and written bullet point notes on most phone calls.
Question: What tips do you have for getting a seat at the table?
Nikolas Perrault: Promptly return messages. Treat everyone with respect at all times and you will have their respect in return.
Question: What book has made the biggest impact on your life?
Nikolas Perrault: Legacy of Ashes.
Question: Do you value intelligence or common sense more? Why?
Nikolas Perrault: Common Sense. Intelligence is too often associated with arrogance and a total lack of people skills.
